Protecting Our Investments

I've seen a lot of players lose their accounts because they either got a new phone or had a data loss on their device. As someone who has invested a sizable amount of money into the game, and amassed a collection of most of the exclusive, time-limited items available since I started playing, I'd like any advice I can get on how to protect myself from losing all of it should it ever come to that.

I'm on an Android device, a Samsung S5, but do not use any backup or cloud-based storage for my games save what's built into the games themselves. As glu doesn't store any game information on the cloud, I wonder if anyone has advice on a service or process I can use to protect myself. I'm sure other players would appreciate it as well.
