Cash uses?

I keep accruing cash but I have yet to find out what the purpose is. Does anyone know what the money rewarded after every mission is good for purchasing?

Two things, in-game cash weapons, after you complete each region, you can pick up either primary weapon (if you haven't won or bought a better one). Or upgrading all primaries. 3/4 of the upgrade costs of those is in-game cash.
