One potential solution is:
1. In game, sign into Google+ and make sure your data is saved.
2. Then uninstall and reinstall.
3. It should re-download the latest data.

It's possible you may need to clear your facebook cache in order to download the latest update.

Have you tried this?
1. In Settings -> WiFi ->Select the network-> forget your network.
2. Power the device all the way off.
3. Power it on.
4. Reconnect to your network (note: if it's password protected you'll need to log in again)
