Freezing or "pausing" is an indication that your device is "under stress". Either available system resources have dropped to the point that the device needs to start terminating tasks OR something else is draining resources to the point that other running tasks are being affected.
The important thing here is that GLU cannot help with this other than to provide general guidance similar to what I've just described.
Take an inventory of running tasks (apps) and start permanently "killing" these; after all, while your playing CKS, I would think that you're NOT using your device for much else.
If they seem to automatically start when you turn on your device, then disable them.
There's also the distinct possibility that CKS has "outgrown" your devices' ability to run the game smoothly. This has always been an ongoing problem with CKS and iOS; the CKS code is inefficient.
In the past, several iOS players have remedied this problem by uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app; presumably, by doing so, clearing out some accumulated "junk".
Complex Minds Require Challenging Games ... SCORPION
The original Metal Slug set the stage for much bigger action later in the series. The original concept is that you play as a soldier who has to single-handedly (or with the help of a second player) destroy an evil army, who vaguely resemble the Axis powers from World War II. In addition to the unique art style, which is more cartoon-like than realistic, Metal Slug introduced the squat, controllable tanks that the series is named after. The iOS version of Metal Slug offers plenty of extra lives and continues, but it’s a shorter game than the sequels, with slightly less replay value.
