No buttons happened twice to me, but both were in the first day of the tournament. iPhone 4.
The most common issue was the game crash while playing PVP, black screen, restart issue which happened throughout the tournament; 10 out of 200 matches for me.
No button to play PVP last weekend it happened to me in several occasion during PVP challenge to colleagues. I can't found any button on my screen to press trigger for any attack on opponent enemies. These made me to loose my streak. I have to be build from scrash.

Happened to me several times as well. For me the buttons are there at the start, but then a bunch of them disappear in the middle of the match. I think it usually happens when I move sideways to avoid a missile and then suddenly the left and right arrow buttons are gone, and the buttons that remain visible on the screen don't work.
If I had to guess I would guess that the "running sideways" sub program never completes, because the interface still acts exactly like it normally does when you're in the middle of a run, meaning the arrows disappear and the remaining on screen buttons don't do anything.

yes same here,i have lost 3 times without the buttons,have to start all over again,too bad losing the winning streak

Same problems. Same device and operating systems. iPhone 6 IOS 8. Also still get need more space delete apps when trying to open WOF and new guns.

I have less crashes and lock ups since I updated to 8.1.3.
