Hello all.
I have a question that was bothering me since I started playing this awesome game.
How do some players get massive scores in the pvp tournaments and events even though we only get to have 3 energy points an hour and each point takes 20 minutes to refill.

for someone to get 40k score they at least wasted around 11k gold to get this is that true?
Is there a gold fountain i've never heard of? or do they hack or do they actually spend 300$ each event?

$300 per event sounds about right ... there are those who routinely spend thousands each and every month. $100 per 12 hours of game play ... the numbers are truly staggering.
As you've noted, only 1 (actually 3) can ever win any given event ...
... so we settle for finishing in the TOP 30 or the TOP 90.
Head scratching is just about a good motion now ...
You've condensed a 2-week long effort into 48-72 hours and you're essentially in the same place as everyone else.
Of course, there is no logic in doing that OR playing video games, for that matter
... it's all about having fun, right?

You're now sleep deprived, have bags under your eyes and haven't engaged with the opposite *** in months ... just saying, is all ... No Harm, No Foul.
That's the reaction of most new players; "If I can't do it, then they MUST be cheating ...". I shared that sentiment very early on, but once I started tracking these players, I know for a fact that they are actually fighting PvP using GOLD. Whether or not they are "buying" the GOLD is debatable and impossible to prove otherwise ... but they ARE fighting, trust me.
I also personally know a "high roller" who once was spending that much, but has cut back. He made it to #1 All-Time Ranking and I know for a fact he is (was) NOT cheating.
The biggest mistake you can make is to assume that everyone earns AND spends their money the way you do. This game is for high rollers ... nothing short of a Las Vegas Casino gambling app. I once ran with a crowd where anyone at anytime might bet $10,000 on a roll of the dice; are they "cheating"?
I've seen and identified "hacks" as well. The one thing all hacks have in common is they score large numbers in short spurts and don't hang around very long; maybe 2-3 weeks tops.
How do I know? Well ask anyone ... I track this game like a hawk; nothing gets by me. :cool:
Also consider this: GLU is the most money grubbing gaming company I have ever known and you can believe that if someone was scoring 10s of thousands of PvP victories each and every week and NOT paying for it, they would be banned in an instant ...
... This probably explains why the "hacks" never last more than a couple of weeks.

There are a few well known 100K AP scorers and each are legitimate players on both iOS and Google Play. I agree with you when you say "throwing money away" because from MY POV, that's exactly what they've been doing.
But we must consider THEIR POV ... they're being entertained (or so they say) and it's worth the $100 per day to them.
I don't judge and I don't speculate ... I just state the facts, love 'em OR leave 'em, believe it OR not.
My best advice is to simply play your game and don't worry about what everybody else is doing and how they're doing it ...
... pick up a few tips here and there when they appear they might help; discard the BS and false claims.
A little doubt and apprehension is healthy but don't dwell upon it.
Look at it this way, if they really were cheating, there's absolutely nothing YOU can do about it and since you can't compete with them anyway (regardless), just act like they don't exist ...
... after some time you will learn that what was impossible or improbable yesterday becomes quite possible, maybe even the "norm" (whatever that is) tomorrow.
Another "beginner's" mistake is to assume that players are competing for weapons ... NOT TRUE ...
... they are "converting" ENERGY (GOLD) into DIAMONDS to pay for upgrades. At TIER 29 they will need 25,000,000,000 of them in 2-weeks just for the DEFENSE BASE alone, not to mention weapons.
So there is an underlying reason for the high scores
