As far as I know the devs are aware and is fixing it. I have messaged support and received 15 gems as compensation for this, and some others reported getting 20 gems too.

I'm sure they will drop the next chapter every now and then. Surely the appliances have food items for future chapters, which means they are ready but they won't release it soon, probably to avoid running out of content too quickly like before.

@Steph0814 I'm currently at Chapter 16, and there's no sign of Chapter 17 coming next update, but it is teased that it will be a snack shop venue, and the upcoming new content is a limited-time (to acquire) decors and outfit. Hope it helps.
