How do you use rare hunt calls to win weapons during rare hunts? ?

When they award the calls to you it says you can use it during rare hunts to win weapons but I can't figure out how to use them besides to activate a hunt

I think by using them for rare hunts, your account is put into a lottery, and at random someone wins a gun. I was playing the holiday hunts this morning, and played 4 rounds using the calls. Just now the little Santa girl just showed up and gave a Region 3 pistol.
