Level 38 contract hunt earnings.

I completed level 38 about 3 weeks ago and I was doing contract hunts to build up money in the bank ready for level 39. I didn't go on it for a couple of days, but when I did the earnings from the hunts went down from 147-153 million per hunt down to 88.5 to 93.5 million, the same as level 37. Is this a fault in the game or is it because I've got plenty of money in the bank now and that's just what it does?
