  Best way for a heart shot is with infrared, pretty tough without. Sometimes the heart will be hidden by the lungs. Some of the easiest shots are from the rear, where the heart is low on the lungs and not hidden. The lungs will hide the heart on some side and front shots. The heart is always at the lowest part/center of the lung.

  If you have a shot from behind line up your shot from the butt hole to the base of the neck. Or from front, notice the "V" shape under the neck shoot into the base of the V. Works here and in life.
