Game freezing when using infared

This started when I got to standard 3. Everytime I turn on infrared the game freezes and I have to take my battery out to restart the phone. It makes it extremely difficult to get heart shots and I'm wasting a lot of energy and not getting very far. The current level I'm on requires two heart shots. Idk if it's the gun or the levels or what but I wish it would get fixed.

    I got a new gun on standard 4 and it still happens.

    HTC Vivid Android 4.0.3.

    I'm on standard 5 now with another new gun and it seems to be working now . I'm still nervous to use it because I really hate reseting the phone. This phone takes like 10 minutes to turn back on. I don't use it unless I absolutely need it because I got used to getting heart shots without the infrared.
