Chapter 9, Can’t Purchase New Improvements

I'm playing through Chapter 9 and purchased the bridge improvement. After completing the dialogue where Gil says “Oh, right” the game goes back to where it was on the town screen and does not progress to the purchase improvements/daily challenges UI. I can play levels, but can’t complete any daily challenges or redeem my level stars.

Can you change the bridge decoration manually? Just tap and hold on the bridge and pick another decoration. If that doesn't work, please update here or contact customer care with screenshots!
