Tournaments, Events, VP?

I'm hearing of these Tournaments, and VP points (what are VP points used for anyway?), (Im in a guild), and I'm wondering if there is a way of knowing when these are, I'm also hearing rumours of you guys shutting off the tournaments and VP stuff on the MAC, this can't be true....... can it?

You earn Valor Points (VP) by doing a specific task. There'll be different kind tournament each week. But now it's mostly repeating of a few kind.

So far, the type of tournament includes
1) Killing mobs, e.g. zombies, wolfman. You seldom see this kind of tournament now since Glu can't make money out of it. And the rewards for this kind of tournament sux big time.
2) Fusing of items
3) Evolving items
4) Spin Offering. Glu makes the most money out of this as this is a pay-to-win kind of tournament. So be expected to see more of such event.
