Grinding Hellboy...?

So I finally beat normal mode! I was able to get a weapon that after fused gave me enough damage to do hellboy in just under 3 minutes. That's not quite a great farming time really, but I'm finding that my weapon though just good enough for hellboy, isn't quite good enough for cyclops.

So should I farm hellboy for a while hoping for a better weapon drop in normal before trying to struggle through cyclops?

yes.. keep farming hellboy.. if it takes you 3 mins to kill him theres certainly a lot more upgrades than just weapon you can find from him.. plus it has a decent demon heart drop rate which will let you upgrade the items you'll find also.

my opinion is to move on to ancient caven (legendary) and farm there instead for purple and regeant even a blue weapon is better than any purple from hellboy. Hellboy (normal) really not worth it unless you are extremely lucky and got his best gold weapon. lvl 21 gold weapon is decent if you have spare regeant to upgrade to max but only the one with (Att. CC and CD. (butcher type)) is worth upgrading. all other types is not even on par with purple weapon on legendary.

go back to farm hellboy (normal) after you get a purple weapon from legendary if he takes more than 30sec to beat on normal is totally not worth farming since he gear get replaced really soon. Only gear i got from hellboy (normal) and kept the longest was his gold necklace and ring of the berserker fully maxed. It lasted me til i got my next set of gold from niam (legendary).

It is better to have a gold weapon or a purple weapon with "...of the butcher"

normal mode gold is not better than legendary mode purple while legendary gold "butcher" > legendary purple "Butcher"

ex. lvl 31 gold "butcher" is better then silver offering purple weapon by around 230gs. i think the last purple set is "Remarkable...."

my advise is if you got a legendary gold "Butcher" upgraded to max and hold on to it til you get the next gold Butcher. Upgrade cost is insane the ratio of exp to gold on gold weapon is nearly 1-2. i have 3 lvl 36 gold weapon that i didnt bother to upgrade: a predator, raider and destoryer type but not butcher. i dont bother to upgrade unless its a butcher or im having a hard time farming then i'll upgrade the destoryer because just to upgrade one to second stage costs me over 1 1/2 mil. not to mention the regeant needed take a while to farm.

pelepala, thank you for the reply and information! I'll try that out and see how it goes for me.

Here's a couple questions for ya if you don't mind...

I have both a gold ring and amulet for level 30, the amulet is beserker and the ring is vulture. I plan to upgrade those to max when I can. I have a purple beserker I'm using until I can upgrade the vulture, figure the small % in energy I lose from changing rings won't be too bad?

For weapons, I have a blue butcher weapon for level 26. I just got a lv 21 gold weapon which I think dropped off of hellboy. It's of the loraz, dmg, CC, CD. The lv 26 blue is upgraded to two stars. Will that gold weapon be able to upgrade to higher dmg over the blue despite being for a lower level at 21 vs. 26? Or should I go ahead and max out the blue and not worry about the gold weapon at this stage.

I'm assuming that the higher level will end up being higher dmg despite it not being a legendary but want to make sure.

Thanks again for your input, it's greatly appreciated!!

For weapon go with the one with higher GS rating currently in your inventory, use it til you get a higher GS purple and able to beat cyclops to move on to next stage. might take awhile to kill him. Then move on to later stage and farm the next purple weapon upgrade it to 2 stars then go back to farm cyclop.

in normal mode. the gold "butcher" weapon is on par with legendary mode purple "butcher" from cyclops map but it is not better than Niam's map purple onward.

in Legendary mode. your main goal is the lvl 31 and 36 Gold "Butcher" weapon. lvl 31 gold "butcher" weapon fully upgraded is better than any blue or purple weapon you able to get later on replace only by lvl 36 gold weapon. The armor, ring and amulet "Ancient gold set (cyclop) will be replaced by niam's "Marvelous/heavenly purple set", Trensedent gold set (Niam) will be replaced by Hellboy's "imprudence purple set or something" so make it a secordary goal since purple armor is somewhat better stats and easier to get if you do get them gold armor while farming great if not dont bother farming a whole set. lastly "Unbreakable set "(Hellboy) will be current end game armor. this is the one you want to farm from Hellboy, Niam drop the unbreakable helm as well. check out Jonwayne Primer thread. great info on it.

personally i dont switch out my current gear unless next item is atleast 200gs + for armor or 300+ for weapons since all i ever upgrade are "butcher", "berserker" and "resolve". i sold a bunch of unbreakable pieces because its not berserker and resolve.
