Your new players are being put off

I'm not a newbie to the game anymore but one of the biggest things that puts you off as a newbie or even a veteran for that matter, is the chatbox in town.

It is constantly, and I mean constantly littered with spammers, repeatedly pasting nonsense with the sole purpose of annoying other users or people desperately trying to get around the inappropriate language barrier for the sake of doing so.

In the midst of all the childish chaos, there are new players asking very basic questions about the game, who are obviously stuck. Usually, this takes the form of requests for strategies for the first boss or reagent locations.

Before people have even hit a steady gaming pace, they are brickwalled and ignored/belittled by other gamers.

So, my suggestion is a fairly simple one. Expand your chat system and its features. Add more chat rooms, one for newcomers to discuss ideas amongst themselves. One for recruitment to guilds, maybe one for high end players too. Then add filters, allow us to block people on chat, that would be a great development.

Thanks!

I remember when i was asking about how to beat normal ivar mtns in world chat before. And of course there's that guy who told me to stfu and gtfo. Oh, and he told me the main strategy was to not suck as$ in a video game.

    -_- It sure helped.

But in all honesty, there was a legitimate claim to his words. With more practice, i eventually beat him, and moved on to legendary mode.

The best thing to do is to just ignore these kinds of things though. There's always gonna be that one douchebag.

lol, yeah. I got it myself once or twice, then you just don't bother asking lol.

I think one of my concerns about it is that if the game is uninviting or unwelcoming, there's a chance that the new players will just give up before they've realised their EW3 potential.

If that happens, Glu lose out on potential income which in turns affects the development and lifespan of the game itself.

Plus, how satisfying is it to tap the 'block' option and never see another ridiculous waste of binary from that one douchebag? :)

If not the block filter, I'd like to see a guild chat room added just to help guilds recruit members or players get recruited to a suitable guild. Although without the block filter, its just another platform for aforementioned douchebags to exercise their lack of IQ lol.

    Thanks for replying Ultra :)

Yes, spammers and douches are annoying. A block option would be nice, as long as people don't abuse it.
