I would recommend using coins until you have blue runes. (That takes enough farming time)
After that you can use gems (if you have enough) to get purple runes and these seem to be very strong. (10/9% dmg/res).
For me it's not really worth it. I will try to complete my godly set and farm blue runes so I will be ready for pvp.
Don't forget that you need different runes depending on the upcoming stages to make your "progress" easier.

But you need 4 blue to make one purple and 4 purple for one gold rune
1 gold = 4 purple = 16 blue = 80 green = 400 white
250 + 400 + 800 + 1600 + 0 = 3050
8 Gear = 24400

This is more achievable but just shows how bad this system is. It would effectively make me want to just stop at Purple and consider that to be best in slot.
I'm stoping at Blue from now on since I'm not gonna pay for succes. I'm so sorry that i tried that purple Ice resistance. 20%(4 blues) is way better than 0% or even 9%(purple)
Also I would never consider buying God of Runes tokens since from 40 spins I got only 2 blue and 38 greens.

1 out of 2 green (of course ice resistance fails and lightning resistance succeded)
Now I'm hoping that lightning resistance will be needed soon.

Gem costs are ridicueless. Someone in the townchat stated that he bought 10 spins at the god of runes and got 10 green runes.
Remind that it costs 900 gems...

Question: Do you guys also get drills in the towers? I got 3 drills already from tower runs... both towers.

I got only 3 drills, one in each tower and one on Frostbite Cave.
Also I got only lesser runes except one green at 130 in Tower of Heroes.
And usually from 0 - 45 i get only about 10 runes.
Looks like i can start saying im unlucky then... Ever since the start of the patch, the only time I've had the drills is from prizes. I've never actually had a drill drop anywhere yet
It has been said many times, drills are far to rare. Considering every piece you have needs a drill, plus every upgraded piece, they should be common like SIGILS!! And they should sell for a lot more than 10 gold, everything but especially regents sells for far to cheap

1 gold = 5 purple = 25 blue = 125 green = 625 white
250 + 500 + 1250 + 2500 + 0 = 4500

30 gems for purple
50 gems for gold (just incase you go on all same element)

just ONE gold rune = 3050 gems and months of consequent rune farming....
