Drill imbalance (not enough drills) (or gold or gems)

Since 1.2 I have played at least 6 hours with my lv50 mage, including 4 fire tower runs and every new quest with the fire tower. After all of that I only have 7 drills. There are 8 wearable pieces of gear (not including wings) so I am short one, plus 3 extra pieces of gear I have with no IIF but high stats.
After 6 hours of play including the one off quests I would have hoped for more drills. Where are we supposed to find them? My gear doesn't need much upgrading at all because most is godly/unbreakable level, for those who upgrade their gear a lot they must be constantly short of drills.
Also this may not happen but I would like to see more gold and gems from daily quests.
