An idea about smashing reagents into better ones

Ok, i have an idea.. It might be off the wall but here goes, since we can smash together lower level runes to higher level ones, with a chance of failure why cant we do the same with reagents.... It is frustrating when all your gear has one or more stars waiting for specific reagents and you never see them, but you look at your inventory and it is more then half full of lower level reagents that are useless to you..... So i sugest the ability to make use of them to help out with your higher level gear....
As such maby be only allow the same types
Eyes can only make eyes
Sigils can on,y make sigils etc....
What do you all think

You disgust me, heartless monster.
In ew2 it wasn't reagents but was different types of stones and there was this system in which fusing 10 stones would give you a higher grade one but....
In this game they have defined the reagents as eye heart soul shard etc.
And your idea to it seems illogical speaking biologically😜
How can you make heart from eyes!
And soul shard from sigils and all!
