When we went through and banned a lot of cheaters, we had to retroactively make sure that people got their correct rewards. Your guildmate was likely in lower bracket than they should have been because of the cheaters, so we paid them out the correct reward for where they should have been.
You probably don't really want to be firing microwaves all over the place. Would definitely wreck havoc on a lot of the magnetic based sensors we use in a lot of places currently. But the space applications are very nice!
The cheaters were specifically with regard to the tournaments. Other cheaters are a work in progress. You can stop with the snide comments, they don't accomplish anything.
This is related to making sure the hackers are removed from the prize brackets - sorry for the delay, it is taking longer than expected. We will have an update when we know things will be paid out.

The maximum reward tiers have actually been brought down to bring it in line with the reduced time. Off Season during week. Player and guild rewards…
This has never been the case. The prizes for the tournaments move on a rotating basis specifically to avoid this. The only first place only gear/item rewards have been legendary runes on pvp tournaments and the occasional purple T8 weapon.
In order to introduce new and more challenging content, both level cap increases AND new item tiers will need to be introduced. You will see both of these in the future.
The opposite has been happening. In January, the best rewards you could get from tournaments were purple items and silver tokens. You can now get gold items, gold tokens and rune tokens.
