My theory is that it mostly happens just before and during the invasions because many people try to enter at the same time.

I confirm. After I got two weps, I defeated him hundreds of times but didnt get the third one. I am happy though, I got 2 ancestral weps from oni general for all my three characters :) (By the way, why the hell do ancestral weps look black in the preview windows?)

No, not ancestral gear. Also purple and blue drops are very rare, mostly gray and green stuff.

I got a gold Lvl 44 weapon CD IIF for mage about one week ago. It is the second best weapon after Nightfire (called Vlad's Demonbone Wand). I was not farming, just completing the daily quest. I use my warrior. I win against almost all other warriors and monks. No problem with that. I have 12962 GS and also 10 PVP. BUT I definitely cannot win against mages (one or two wins so far; they must be inexperienced or low gs mages). They are too overpowered against warrior. They seem to be immune to parries.
