How to use multiple squad members

How do you utilize multiple squad members? Can only take 3 into battle. Now I have 4 plus 2 duplicates.

    Select the squad member you don't want and use 'DISMISS' in the upper right corner of the screen.

    You will then be able to choose another squad member

    Also those duplicates are valuable as you'll need them to level up your squad members past a certain threshold, just like with guns.
