What upgrades have you purchased?

I just started playing and I'm at the point where the most I can get is maybe 2 stars because everything is so SLOW. I've bought all the upgrades that only required the silver coins and now I'm looking at spending gold bars on things. Which upgrades did you find to be the most helpful in the higher levels?
