Colored reward boxes on venues

Does anyone know what the different colors on the reward boxes mean? I'm referring to the gift boxes with the question mark that "float" over the venues a couple times a day. Sometimes they are yellow, sometimes purple. The purple ones seem to contain more gifts. I didn't really notice it before, but yesterday, I saw one switch colors and I wondered if you lose some of the gifts if you do not collect them right away.

    It is a function of the Wishelin Star rating system.

    If you click in the little i button under each restaurant, a chart pops up showing what each color box might contain. It also shows your progress and what needs to be completed to reach the next gift level.
