I have realized the same not long ago That is actually not button when you click on the word "Play against a random opponent". In fact, what you can click is just the green button "Quick Duel!" So that is no difference.
There are random Quick Duels or you can duel non-random opponents: 1) Duel friends from your Social Hub by clicking on a friend and tapping Start Duel 2) Duel from the Rivals tab (second tab of duel arena), by clicking on the arrow at the far right of any one of the 20 computer-selected rivals (there's a Quick Duel tab here too but I've not yet tested to see if it randomizes from Rivals only or is identical to main Quick Duel tab)
EDIT: Fixed inadvertent emoticon by numbering list rather than my previous alphabetical system. Who knew B + ) = , lol?
