Does it benefit to have your club stay at a lower level matchup wise?

Our club has made the decision to not donate gloves so that we dont level up but we regularly are competing against platinum and diamond clubs. Are we basically just missing out on better rewards for no reason whatsoever . Our club streang is 1.2 mill I believe we are being matched against similar strengths rather than similar levels.
