My GooglePlay acct not recognized after update

So after this two day delay while your servers were updating, I finally open the app to a screen saying I need to update. So I do. Then when the game starts, the little box pops up at the bottom of the screen saying I've been logged in with my username, but then I get into the game and I'm dumped right into the tutorial with no way to skip it. From the Setup screen (gear symbol) there is no way to sign in or out of the GooglePlay acct, but I checked on my phone and saw that I'm actively logged in, so I have no clue why the game isn't recognizing my log-in credentials.
I have a lvl 21 warlock I've spent a lot of time on and now I have to start over? I don't think so.
Has anyone else run into this issue and know how to fix it?
