I will say that I do wish as well that gold was easier to come by. Trialpay sucks. But the game is free. I'm curious what constitutes a long term player though. Since the game hasn't even been public but a couple months I really don't see any of us (not including beta players) as long termers

Depends on your gold cache. I have enough gold that I think it's worth it. It breaks the monotony of contract hunts. If I was just starting and on level 6 with little gold and a bunch of regions and hidden regions to go then no it probably wouldn't be worth it.
