I was in the same spot you were when I had my team maxed and I was silver. Once I hit gold though it all seemed to level out and I have not had the issue since.

Yes I did have this problem a lot when I had maxed my players out and was still silver. Once I got up to gold though, for the most part, that issue is gone.
