I unfriend someone from Game Center, but they still stay in my contact list in game?

I having been getting a lot of friend requests lately, and I have a truckload of cash and stars I don't what to do with, so I just send gifts to contacts.

I have unfriended the people in my friend list, in Game Center, who I have a maxed out relationship with in the game. But the problem is after I do this, they still stay in my contact list, in the game.

Is there any other way to remove them?
