I'm a little confused by the counter on the announcement. . .is it counting down to when we'll be able to start earning the special stars for the items?

Announcement says this event is 10.3- 10.5. . .

Yes the countdown on the message is the amount of time left before the event starts. The event starts tomorrow and ends on the 5th

You can throw a party at any one of your home locations. There is a new item in the room, that has an icon you click, which then let's you choose how long the party will be. One you choose that, you can invite people in each room. I have all the homes and each one of them has the party option.

Is that apart of the update? I didn't receive the update yet because I have the Kindle. Hopefully I will have it soon....sounds cool.
