Adopting pets

Hello, I was wondering what happens when you adopt a pet? I just wasted 20 stars on adopting a cat and nothing happened.. I just got some heart bonus and cat's speech bubble disappeared..i hope there's more to it, Thank you

    Hi melisanico - Charli the cat will now be in your Downtown LA apartment, and you can tap it for energy/cash/exp points throughout the day, I think it's once every four hours or something like that :) All the other pets in the game are tappable in the same way, but instead of adopting they come as an option to buy once you have bought a house. Each house has it's own unique pet except TriBeCa and Punta Mita which don't have any. And Downtown LA has a goldfish as well as Charli :)
