Businesses - Let's Talk about our Businesses

Hello dolls, I was thinking it would be good to have a thread where we will discuss anything related to businesses.
To those that don't own any business yet, I would recommend buying Chevier in Paris and Ice Club in Reykjavik first, in that order. Fully furnished Chevier Paris gets you 7K + 4.250; and the Club with all extensions makes you 5K + 2.850. Both require you to do 3x3h gigs. You can also own a pet in the Ice Club.
What I am wondering now is which of these two is better to buy first: Casino in Monaco or Perfumery in Lisbon? And why?

The first ever business I bought was the hair salon, which I named Haute Hair.

@Magriatrix I don't own the hair salon, mostly because you need to visit many times throught a week. I prefer business for which you need to do gigs. However, I'll get the hair salon eventually. How are you happy with it? Did it cost a lot to fully furnish it?
I ended up buying the perfumery this weekend, as well as the vineyard, and ended up also reaching the pie, that I didn't even like lol. Anyway, I really like the perfumery! I invested 2500, and got a reward of 9500, so it brought me 7000 clearly, plus Kstars. I picked the most expensive options I had.
I also really like the vineyard. It does cost 90K, but you don't furnish it at all. And after a gig, I got a tweet as well, so received 5K and 2500 cash.

@Zzzelena Oh lol, I didn't furnish the hair salon at all. I also don't have the time for business gigs, I already have numerous normals gigs, a relationship, and a reality show I have to keep up, lol. I'm pretty happy with my hair salon though. As ridiculous as this sounds, I've always wished to pick out outfits and hair and makeup for people. Basically be a stylist, lol. After every customer you make happy, there's two tweets, one is of the customer thanking you and complimenting your salon, and one is of Jayde Jones thanking the customer for coming to your salon, each tweet earning you roughly 2,000 fans. Though I've only been doing this for a week, so the amount of fans you earn per tweet may increase as you progress with the hair salon business. So good luck with your hair salon!

@Magriatrix Glad you're enjoying your salon! Styling is fun! And I agree it's hard keeping up all the aspects of the game. Personally, I make business the priority, because storyline gigs can always wait xD Though, I do get anxious when it's too many of them queued up. But still, I would always do all the business gigs on time and then when they are done I move onto the storyline ones. At the moment I only have 4 of them waiting, so it's not bad. However, what suffers in my game is the relationship. I only go on dates once a day, so my progress on couples' list is very slow. I've never hit the number 1, despite being married with two kids and maxed out since ever. And I only do reality shows when there's an event related to them, or professional and VIP. So I'm pretty low on that list (#428).
I'm not bothered about getting fans, because I'm at the top of the list for ages. If there was another comeback story, I'd take it straight away! Is it expensive to furnish the salon? Does it cost a lot of stars?

@Zzzelena, personally I don’t mind the setup of businesses like Brooklyn Hair & Toronto Chevier. 4 energy bolts each day to look after 2 customers per business. After 5 days you got your 10 customers & your done. Sit back & wait for payouts.

Brooklyn Hair studio cost $18500 kash max or 50 k-stars max depending on how you decorate it. Its up to you whether you want to spend kash, kstars or a combo of both. Also one of the customers will tweet each week & you gain fans.

Love Chevier Paris, Ice Club Reykjavik, Winery Cape Town & K-World Park Seoul for their kstars payouts. So Chic London because you can do it every 3 days instead of every week so you get 6 kstars & $3000 kash within every 6 days period.

I love my Monaco Casino too. Easy to maintain & good payout. Just 1 gig of hosting (3 hours although its easier than normal) and locating 3 high rollers (same 3 on the list to find each week).

Just bought the perfumery in Lisbon today but haven’t had time to do it yet as got a birthday party to attend. Going to do that next later tonight.

My storylines haven’t lead me to the Sky Restaurant Hollywood or Art Gallery Venice or So Chic Online yet. Besides these 3, I owned all the businesses so far. All I can say is businesses rocks! ??

I go as far as to use a budget book as a weekly diary. I write down each business and time as I do them so I don’t miss any an know what day & time each are due the current week, lol.?

Great thread (and thanks, it keeps chatter out of the Fact sheet. <3 But, I think I would buy Chevier Paris, 3 gigs nice payout, and the Seoul Amusement Park, Papagayo Hotel. The amusement park is fast and fun for 3 stars, and Papagayo is an easy 2 gig business. Maybe because the Hotel and the Amusement Park are newer but theye're just fun. My love of the Ice Club has waned. I can't seem to know when to get there. I love the Brooklyn Hair Salon....hour's drive from my home to check in. so that's fun. Oh, and the Skye Grill. But my favorite, Chevier Paris. Oh, the Art Gallery. Hmmmm, I guess I love them all. Never bought the gym though. or the winery and now that the Billboard is resolved....I'm off to do that and probably buy it.
Who's purchased the Casino? How do you like it? I'm intrigued but haven't had time to check it out really.

    @kokokokonut,
The gym is like pets, payout in energy & StarStyle partnership after a 3 hour workout session.
If you remember to visit every hour, you collect 1 bar from each machine & there are 5 machines. Once 20 are collected, you get 5 energy bolts. Rinse & repeat.
Whenever I go in there, I feel like an energy vampire sucking energy from those people working out on the machines.?
Each week you do a workout seesion to earn partnership. Apparently after you own all sportswear clothing from partnership, you get 1 kstar each week after the workout session. Still working on getting all the sportswear.

Even though the winery cost 90 kstars, you don’t need to furnish it. Quick easy 3hr gig & growing grapes. Though standard payout is only 2 kstar & $1250 kash when you get tweet after gig then you get 5 kstars & $2500 kash instead. So far since I bought it 3 weeks ago, I’ve done 3 gigs & got tweets for all 3.?

Casino in Monaco is also one of my favourite as it’s easy to maintain. Locate 3 high rollers (names & 2 possible locations for each of them & the names & locations are the same listed each week). Then you do a quick 3 hr hosting gig. 3 kstars & $3000 easy payout.

@klena Hahah, I do the same thing with writing down when I did the gig and going back to it when it's the time! That's commitment  Businesses rock, though! They might be my favourite part of the game, to be honest . I see your point about the Salon and such businesses, you don't really need to do a lot, and the payout is decent. I definitely plan to buy them anyway. And thanks for telling me the cost of furnishing, 18500 kash is not that bad at all.
Sky and the Art Gallery are basically the same, you do 2x3h gigs, and get 3K + 2000 cash. And the gigs are done quickly. So Chic Online is just an extra 750 per week, you get a phone call and the cash is transfered to you. I think I have had So Chic Online for over a year, if not even two. It feels like forever. It's a cute little extra, for doing a few simple storyline gigs once and never again. Tho, in today's game 750 cash seems like nothing xD At least you don't need to do anything for it either.
@kokokokonut, you should try writing down system that we use  it'll help you with knowing when to go back to the Ice Club  It's too many businesses to keep the track of when to go back for all of them in the head.
Yeah, you're right @klena, when you get all the sports gear from the Gym, then the prize goes to earning 3K stars. So technically you do get 1K per gig, but you can only get the payment every three weeks. The gig you do there is easy, takes little energy.

I just bought the Chevier boutique in Paris. And after all your comments @Zzzelena , @kokokokonut , @klena and @Magriatrix I have to thank and I will save up to buy the Hotel in Papagayo, the Gym in LA, the Brooklyn Salon. The others I'll think about it.
  • klenaklena Registered Users 679 Posts
@Danizzle, I would leave the gym till very last item to buy as its not very good return especially factoring in cost of furnishings. There’s better businesses out there to invest first.
With the casino, make sure you have enough to buy all rides before buying business or else you won’t get a return.

I bought the Parfumery recently and I must say I love it much more than the Hotel for example. You only do one 3hr gig there and you earn 3K + 10.000 cash. (You invest 2.500 and get the payout of 12.500, when you fully furnish it). So, it is better than the Hotel, the Art Gallery and Sky, which all require two 3h gigs, for lower payout.

@Zzzelena that’s why I love Monaco casino & Seoul K-world park. Both are quick 3hr gig, 4 kstars (park) & 3 kstar (casino).
Bought the Parfumery last week too & that’s joining the list for easy to maintain business.

Wish we could do them all more than once a week like So Chic London which we can do twice weekly. But man, the upkeep for So Chic London kinda puts me off. 8hrs + 3hrs + 1hr. And I so totally dislike 8hrs gigs.

@klena I haven't got the K-Park or Casino, yet. But will buy them during the next VIP.
So Chic London 8h gig is easier than the usual 8h gigs. It takes me one full energy bar, I don't need to go around tapping for any extra energy. The best actions to use are customer service tips, mixing and matching, merchandising ideas and pose for group pictures ofc.

I currently own the hair salon and so chic in LA and the hamptons..my question is, I get paid on Saturday by the salon and so chic LA, will it be the same day for all businesses?
  • kokokokonutkokokokonut Moderators 29,115 Posts
No, it seems that your week begins with the 1st gig, or purchase. In some cases, it goes by last gameplay. Some businesses...Chevier Paris one week from completion of last task. If I collect and finish a task on a Monday she’ll tell me to come back in a week if I don’t come back until the following Wednesday my cycle has now moved to Wednesday.

Just bought the new St. Moritz Ski Resort. Increased payout 5 k-stars & $7500 kash if you made the right decision. You’re given 3 choices by the manager.

My first one is that there’s not enough snow so what do I want to do. Should have taken screenshot as forgot 3rd choice. The other 2 were 1) Hire Maestro Sly or 2) Hire snow machine to build snow.

I hired Maestro Sly so now have to wait a week to find out results.

Anyone else bought the ski resort & if so, what’s your question & decision?

Um, I probably would have taken Sly as well, but I think for a ski resort, Snow machine would have been the better bet. Unless Sly was bringing snow with him. B)

I too had the same decision to make as you @klena but I chose to hire a snow machine instead because I felt that was more the appropriate answer to the question. But who knows? ( I too wish I took a screenshot).
I am wondering whether we’re gonna have to make decisions like that on a daily basis or weekly?

@ladykrystal, got a feeling it may be weekly thing. Otherwise it might be too much for Glu to come up with something daily.
Going to take screenshots from now on & post it here. Hopefully there’s a pattern that will guarantee that increased payout ? ?

If you don’t mind posting your result here that would be greatly appreciated to see if there’s a pattern.?

Second edit: lol, must be getting old or need my eyes check but missed your post earlier regarding Maestro Sly @kokokokonut.
I thought about snow machine hire but then thought skiers aren’t there to enjoy fake snow so went with Sly instead as it’s different and entertaining for them. But then hearing about you & @ladykrystal reasoning, I’m having second thoughts. Although so far, no negative effects.

@klena, so I got another call this morning to make a decision. I had to do a 3hr Ski Wear show which increased my brand for the resort:

Seems like we will get a call every second day to make a decision. (Will keep you posted).

I have the Club in Iceland, the Hotel in Papagayo, and Chevier in Paris. All seem to work pretty well to get kstars and not too taxing although I do not know how you guys have time for more I can barely keep up with these businesses with all the weekday and weekend events, if they aren't about doing professional gigs then they just get left out and postponed for ages. How do you juggle it all?

@ladykrystal Thanks a lot! So, it's similar to Vineyard, just cost more  It would be good if it actually had a pattern so we can at least secure maximum payout. I hope it does!
@Lyanna Well, it is hard, but I got them separated by the days. That helps me a lot. So, I would do one or two businesses each day of a week. No matter what event is going on, I try to follow that pattern. It also makes it easier to follow which business it's time to do. I make it that I can manage to be done with the businesses for the day with one full bar of energy (I have 45 bolts) + pets (I collect about the same with pets, 45).
For example, I do Bar in Prague (6h) and Hotel Papagayo (2 x 3h) on Monday.
    On Tuesday I do So Chic London (1h + 3h + 8h).
    On Wednesday I do the Art Gallery (2 x 3h) and Sky (2 x 3h).
    On Thursday I do Paris Chevier (3 x 3h) and Gym (3h).
    On Friday I do Reykjavik (3 x 3h).
On Saturday I do So Chic London again.
And on Sunday I do Vineyard (3h), Perfumery (3h) and So Chic San Diego (8h).

That is my plan, maybe it will help other dolls as well! Those are all of my business at the moment. When I do only one or two of them a day, it's not that hard to maintain them. And I would always make them the priority over all the other gigs, because I see them as investment. I just do them in the morning, and then I know I'm done with them.
I do have life apart from this game lol. Being organized like this actually helps me to spend the least time on it and be the most efficient, in the game and in real life. xD

@Lyanna, trick is to be organised as @Zzzelena mentioned. How is up to you but I too plan them out throughout the week and have a weekly journal dedicated to them. I write & tick them off as they get done so I don’t miss any revenue.

@ladykrystal, I got a call too. Took screenshots this time & so glad I did.

I selected first option of taking care of problem myself. Thus generated a mini quest.

Thank you for posting your test decision. If anyone else has bought the ski resort, if you don’t mind posting your test decisions that would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully if we continue to do this, there may be a pattern.?

@klena, thanks for posting these questions and outcomes! They will be super helpful once I get the update and buy ski resort! Do you get paid every two days when the question pops up or it's a weekly payment depending on how many good decisions you've made throughout the week?
