Stuck at #144 on A List

Hi guys!  How hard is it to move up the A List?  I have been STUCK at 144 for months.  Basically I gain new fans and at the same time the person at 143 will also.  I tested this out by hosting a party, I was 8 million fans behind.  Did the party and gained 1 million fans but I’m still 8 million fans behind as it bumped up the other A Listers.  What am I doing wrong?

    multiple 3 hour parties daily. A fast way to move up is to delete FB friends (at least on iOS) from the game.

    I have done that and literally cannot move up.  I’ve played before and it was not this difficult to move up
