Glu really has inclusivity problems like I just went into my main game and counted how many Asian inspired items we have....not even 10 (makeup, dresses etc. included)... for a game that has been out for about 6 nearly 7 years. The embarrassment though💀 and we have only about only 2-3 Asian characters (Rani, Maya and the Walmart version of one of Takeshi's Castle host). That's it. And none of them are love interest. Glu do better bc you have the time. The only thing missing is the commitment
We don't even have enough asian eyes in the game and even the one they used on Maya is not in the game... 🙄 This is from the Instagram post the KKH posted earlier, and im pretty sure we don't have those eyes in the game, i don't know about the male doll but i searched and i couldn't find the eyes that Maya and the other female doll have 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🙄🙄 If they can use it on the dolls why they can't give it to us in the game?

Many many people have tried to politely explain offensive things but are met with hostility in return, at this point the ignorance is sometimes purposeful and a lot of the POC on this forum are just plain tired of it.

Just a friendly reminder that the Japanese kimono is not appropriate to use for Korean street style
I would also flag that the qipao/cheongsam is Chinese in origin – Korean street style is very urban/edgy and tends towards the more modern looks while both the qipao and kimono are traditional styles of dress (whereas Chinese street style will more frequently include their traditional styles of dress).
Korean/Japanese/Chinese street style (as well as other Asian countries that still don’t have representation in the game) are all very distinct and I would definitely recommend doing a quick google or Pinterest search because they are all amazing in their own ways (just like Italian/French street styles have their differences). Seoul Fashion Week also just happened from March 22-27th, so there’s a lot of recent inspiration for everyone as well 🥰
I don’t have a big enough wardrobe or enough fashion creativity to show inspo looks, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

In a capitalist society it’s very very difficult to avoid funding shitty things - including child labor, environmental destruction, poor treatment of workers, etc.
Implying that POC who have faced discrimination their entire lives are looking for something to “cry” about is so ignorant and baseless. I’m sure they would LOVE to not face these issues, they would love to not be discriminated against and then watch white people steal their cultures but they have to. 1. There is a difference between want and need consumption. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, sure, but you choose what you consume. You want to play this game, it is not a need, so don’t bring up capitalism and avoiding funding for crappy things when it is very, very easy to avoid playing this game.
2. I never said anything about POC so don’t put words in my mouth. I am speaking on those who actively seek problems surrounding cultural appropriation when it comes to this game (not real life). Using POC hair, skin tones etc. on your character has been called “digital blackface” and I feel like so many people on this forum have been trying to insert real life issues in a made up game. Me putting a POC hairstyle or a cultural dress on my doll isn’t cultural appropriation - let’s get that straight. Things have to be real to have an effect on real life.
3. “Standing up for what’s right” - I fail to understand how barring people from using certain items on their character is somehow the “right thing” to do? This game has no impact on our reality, or on any hardships POC face today so why does it matter. This is what leads me to believe people are actively seeking problems where there aren’t any.

first off, we’re not talking about cultural appropriation. we’re talking about racism & representation. very different. so i already know you either didn’t read the conversation you’ve inserted yourself into, or just want to share your 2 cents for the sake of it.
second, we don’t have direct communication with kim. what we do have is communication with @KalindaKing and @kokokokonut who can directly pass on our concerns & frustrations to glu about the game.

Representation is important and that’s something I strongly believe so don’t take my words out of context. I was speaking on how people make an issue out of cultural appropriation in this game as if it’s real and affects our reality.

Obviously this game isn’t a necessity but enrichment is. Everyone deserves and needs to have outlets for fun and many of those outlets for fun are connected to crappy people’s means of income.
