Relief Pitching

How does the game determine which relief pitcher comes in after starter during autoplay and then through end of game? I have 4 and 5 star relievers (all sr no LR) and it seems sporadic.

LR come in in blow outs or last in an extra innings. SM comes in for 8th inning type work. CL gets the 9ths or end game. RP1 is the a 7th inning option. RP2 plays if all hope is lost.
