Unequipping Items

Am I missing something here? In order to unequip an item you must have a replacement junk item in the inventory? The reason this is upsetting is because I bought a dodge necklace for my rogue... but I was accidentally selected on my tank that I never use. I cannot get the item off because I don't have any other neck pieces. Is this for real? That's real money gone to total waste.
If there is a way to take it off I would love to know. Thanks.

Isn't available to kindle users stuck on 1.0, I have a similar problem and customer service can't/won't help and the Kindle app still doesn't get updates as HoD for others hits 1.2.
