What are the batting averages, OBPs and slugging percentages for some of your hitters? What are their platoon splits? SB%? AB/HR?

My best hitter is my lead off hitter Josh Harrison, 9/5/8, .390/.415/.522, .412 against LHP, and .378 v. RHP. Overall solid. I wish he could play 3B in this game so I can replace Donaldson, 5/9/4, .238/.262/.378.

Second best is my No. 3 hitter, Michael Brantley, 9/5/7, .373/.398/.475, .309 v LHP, and .401 v. RHP.

    My best surprise is Howie Hendrick, only a 4*, 8/2/6, but hitting .337 with a .361 v LHP and .323 v. RHP.

How much of an advantage is switch hitting or batting lefty? 1 or 2 contact points maybe?
  • Amused_79Amused_79 Registered Users 841 Posts
Definetly more righties in the game. A high switch hitter or lefty will hit for higher average.

    Best: Victor Martinez .404
    2nd best: Jose Abreu .397
    3rd best: Robinson Cano .384

Averages based on over 1,500 AB's

Cano had been over .400 for a while, but cooled off as of late.

But would you take say a lefty with say a 6 rating over a righty with a 7 contact rating all else equal?
  • Amused_79Amused_79 Registered Users 841 Posts
Yes. But just barely. At 7 or higher I feel is a big jump in batting average.

You think so Amused? I don't know, a switch hitter has an advantage for sure, but I think I would take a right 7 over a lefty 6. Probably negligible difference, but I always go with the higher hitting level over any other attribute, including left vs right.

I'll start keeping track of the number of right handers vs left handers and see what's up. My guess is a 60/40 split in favor of righties. I'm not sure that's enough to take a lefty with a lower hitting rating. Now, if the split is more like 70/30, I might change my mind.

In my opinion it is more like 70/30 righties v lefties pitcher wise. I have a dominant right hand hitting team. And I feel the new legends starters with 3 lefties I have much more success then I did before when they had 4 righties and hitable Kershaw. Now once u get to a 8-9 hitter. It doesn't matter as much. My right hand hitting team are all above .300 by far. But they are all 8 or 9 hitters. I can name on 1 hand the best lefties in this game. But there are so many good righties.

I'm pretty sure in MLB today for pitchers it's close to a 72/28 split and the game should be about the same.

I agree at the high contact ratings (like 8 and 9) it's a big jump. It kind of also allows them to hit pitches that aren't fast***** much better if you swing so you don't always have to focus on getting one.

So if the advantage for LHB is about one contact rating point what is it for switch hitters? 2 maybe?

At switch hitter u are always a point or 2 in the advantage.
