Shifting

Does anyone know how the game determines which players to shift? I know the gameplan affects this but does it affect who is shifted or often they're shifted? Some of the guys on my team that are shifted on are Encarnacion (R 6 9 3) and Beltran (S 5 8 3). Is it because of their power?

    Yes. Shifts are based on power of the batter.

    Any thoughts to the best strategy? Do you guys play extreme shifting?

    I don't think extreme shifting is a good idea. Many of my power hitters (Stanton, Pearce) hit into opposite field all the time.

    So is it when power is higher than contact?
