Leaderboard Discrepancy?

How is it determined what our group is for the leaderboards? A friend of mine is finishing with daily and weekly rewards regularly and my totals are a lot better then his and I'm not even top 150. I played 25 more games then him yesterday through bonus games, he was top 50 and I was not even top 150. Makes no sense.
