Upgrade hands? Bats?

I'm still kind of new to this game. Sometimes I'm playing against a team where I just can't get a hit past their guys and it says my opponent has improved their infield and out field hands.  How do I combat this? My batting is already improved to the max allowed. What else can I do besides make contact?

    Nothing. Thats just telling you what your opponent has theirs up to.
