If he is connected to wifi, I would recommend he force close the app, disconnect from wifi, and attempt to connect again. I believe it most cases this is caused by a weak internet connection.
Have him make sure his team is backed up on email or Facebook . If nothing is working then delete the app and reload it . I had to do this with 17 . Customer care told to do it but there is a chance his team gets lost so only as last resort. Goid luck and keep us posted

I'm not certain. I just know that he couldn't log in for several hours and later, it apparently fixed itself.
