Is there a point that Glu just let's the game come to am end...I'm not wanting to invest much more if theres only a couple good months left

The game will continue indefinitely, but there will stop being major changes/updates when the new version (2019) is released.

from what I understand, those that stuck with the game from 17 to 18 received some extra gifts and some got VIP status. I am new to 2018. So we will see what they do when 19 comes out.

Once the new version comes out, you can still play the previous version. There won’t be any bonus players for club events though.

But do people that play the 18 version also play the 17 version? Not sure how that works

Some folks will play both, it really depends on how much you have in your team and how much time you have on your hands. I played both for the first month then went to just 2018.
