How is a player's Overall calculated?

I am trying to make a spreadsheet that helps me decide which players to include in my roster in certain scenarios. In doing so I am calculating what their overall would be with either or both of their skills applied, but am finding that the overall is not calculated in an obvious way and my expected overall does not match the actual overall.

I assumed that overall would be the average of hit, power, and speed, but it is not. Its in the ballpark, but not right. Does anyone know how this is calculated?

It’s probably some sort of average of the 3 categories. Hit and power probably carry a little more weight in the formula. My 490 Bryce Harper is capped. So he is 490 overall, but the average of the 3 stats is basically 450. His ratings are 528/517/304.
