Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.

However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.

On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.

In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

Game bugs I've experienced

Here are some of the issue's I've had with the game:

1. losing money in races I've won but got DNF or DQ
2. not receiving the 1 gem payout after buying a C class car
3. Car summary weight is different from the weight listed in the upgrade summaries (for example, when I look at an installed part's stats, the weight should equal the car summary's weight but does not)
4. On turbo cars, header upgrades show they only add engine stress but up to Stage 2, it also lowers the vehicle's weight. The weight decrease is not reflected in the upgrade stats.
5. I "lost" a $53k money race but after that race, my profile's "Biggest Win" changed to $53k. So did I lose or win? I never saw the money and the race view showed I won.
6. Every now and then, I notice a car's best time changes even though I haven't raced it or haven't beaten the previous time.
7. I've purchased cars from the showroom that claimed a certain rating like 1606, but after purchasing it, the car's actual rating ended up being 1602. This happened with more than one car.

I think I'm forgetting one or two more but I've emailed the developers after each bug and haven't received a positive response. Each time, I'm told the game is working as designed or that I'm probably cheating. I'm hoping they will release an update soon that eliminates most, if not all, of these so I can continue to play. The game is awesome but the issues I experience are killing my enjoyment.

    1. If you received a DQ or DNF then according to the server you didn't win so of course you lost money
    2. Email us and we will make sure you get the gems. We can't flag the mission manually yet but we can at least make sure you get the reward
    3. Haven't heard that one yet. If you can send us some screenshots I can forward it to the testing team to investigate
    4. Same as 3
    5. Known issue
    6. Haven't seen that either. We can let the testing team know
7.Do you have examples of which car?

I think you are jumping to conclusions a bit on that. We don't even tell people who are cheating that they are cheating. Closest we get is that the account was found using an exploit or cheat. We do have a new build which should be submitted very soon (then it is a week or 2 depending on Apple)

Turbo cars don't use headers, they use exhaust manifolds.. Maybe that's why it's only adding stress.. If you have a turbo installed the header upgrade should be blocked IMO.

    @[RR] Sage,

About #1, my issue with the DNF and DQ is that I did nothing to get DQed or DNF. Support only implied that cheaters get DQed because the system catches red flags like parts missing or cars being too light. How can I do either of those? It doesn't make much sense to me.

About #7, an example of the rating not matching is the Charger and the Jetta. I bought both and neither of them had the same rating as in the showroom.

I've emailed support at every single issue I came across, with screenshots. Several emails from me and probably only 2 email responses from support.

Obviously I don't handle all of the emails myself so I don't see every issue but if you sent 7 at about the same time and they were all bug reports we would likely only reply to a couple but we do pass the information on to the testing team. As for DNF specifically it is more an issue with the device/connection (though there were some players deliberately using an exploit via disconnection which was why DNF was implemented), DQ checks for many things and again most of what it checks for comes from what exploiters/hackers have done but we do immediately assume you cheated and we continue to tweak and change the rules to make sure it is effective.

The emails were all at different times and different days. I just got another response from support.

Here's my frustration. I'm a paying customer. I've bought in-app purchases within this game several times. The level of support I'm receiving is making me regret those purchases and I will not continue to make any more purchases. The last email talked about the game being in Beta. I don't recall seeing "Beta" mentioned anywhere else. That's usually something that is prominent in an application. Also, you just said it yourself (which goes along with the emails I've received) that "we do immediately assume you cheated". Well, I don't pretend to know everything but I think cheaters cheat to win AND avoid paying money. I've also repeatedly been told that nothing can be reimbursed. Now, I've never asked for any money back but I think a more appropriate statement is "We will not reimburse." You are able to but you won't. I don't even want money back. But when I point out that I'm missing something small like a gem payout from an achievement, I expect someone to fix it. It's not a difficult fix.

Your company can do what it wants, obviously. But I see this as a bad business model. If I received good support, I would have spent more money on the game. Instead, I won't. That's not only because of the level of support I've received but also because it feels like a trap. Why spend money on something I will most likely lose due to a DQ or DNF? The whole DQ thing makes no sense. I don't know how the hacks work couldn't some pre-launch checks occur to prevent the race from happening if someone is suspected of cheating? Or if it has to happen during the race, why not nullify the results and neither party lose anything?

It's your game, do what you want. But if things don't improve by the next update, I'll just delete the app and move on. It's not a threat. I'm not under the delusion that your company will fail just because of me but I'm not the only one frustrated by this. I met a couple of cool racers on here who messaged me that they are leaving the game because they keep losing big money or cars due to DQs that can't be explained easily.

I really want to just play and enjoy the game. I just don't have the patience after spending good money on an incomplete app.

To address #2 again, I haven't received the missing gem. The only responses related to any of my emails reporting the issues have been along the lines of a form email basically saying sorry for the inconvenience, the game works a certain way, and no reimbursements will be given. As far as manually flagging the mission, this shouldn't be hard to do at all in the database. I understand there may not be any admin interface to do this but, surely, some developer would be able to write a SQL (or whatever the language is) statement to change the mission's status to completed. I shouldn't have to buy yet another C class car that I don't want just to get this gem and any other gems for future missions (buy B car, buy A car, etc).

I'd really like to have a conversation with someone who has some sort of authority or development knowledge. This may just be a game, but it is a game that I've paid money for. I'm extremely unhappy with the customer support I've received and even more unhappy with how this game is designed. I don't think it should be acceptable to let your customers lose money due to something that is essentially a glitch. In the case of a DQ, there is no feature in the game that lets me purposely exclude parts from my car. The only way to do that is a hack. Being able to hack really just means the developers are leaving holes in the game that certain people can exploit. Why must I be punished because people abuse the game by exploiting your bugs?

I'm not a hacker. I don't know how to hack this game and I don't want to know. I want the game fixed. And I'm tired of receiving form responses when I report problems with the game, especially ones that say "Unfortunately we are not at liberty to give out everything they check for. If your race result ended in a disqualification that means our program caught something that triggered our system of checks." Why don't you run these checks before the race begins and stop the race with no punishment for either side? Or better yet, eliminate the possibility of any of these things happening (missing parts or whatever else you check for but can't disclose to the public). Why not also remove the "promotion code" field in the app if you aren't at liberty to reimburse any losses?

I really want a response whether it is public or private. I'm not here to bash or insult anyone. I like this game and want to be able to enjoy it without losing things unfairly. None of the things I've reported above have been fixed yet.
