Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.

However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.

On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.

In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

How do multiplayer lobbies/classes work?

I've searched around, but can't find anything directly addressing this. I understand cars are matched together by their level or whatever it's called, for example my '70 Charger is 1636. Most of the cars I go up against are in the mid 1630's.

However, once in a while there will be some VERY wide differences in class. I raced a poor 1631 car earlier and completely destroyed him. And twice today I got hopelessly slaughtered myself, once by a 1648 car that ran 10's and just now by a 1657 car that ran freaking low 9's. Cars in my class bracket seem to run mid 11's at best w/o boosts.

Now, this happens infrequently enough that normally I would not get too butt-hurt over it. My SC has been steadily climbing regardless and I seem to be doing okay for myself. My issue comes from the fact that there you can race for pretty high stakes, up Pinks, in this game, yet the races are all heads-up and you have no idea what class/bracket of car you're up against until after the race. I feel like the occasional severe mis-match of car brackets in the same lobbie creates situation where it would be downright stupid of me (or anyone really) to race for massive sums of money or pinks unless: A) they're using maxxed-out cars, or B) they just have a metric s**t ton of cars and/or money to blow like it's nothing (and for me at least, if you're that well off it takes a lot of the thrill away from doing a high stakes race in the first place).

So what's the deal? Is this a known/intentional mechanic, a bug, or what? Am I wrong by assuming the game even cars about a matchmaking mechanic when putting people in lobbies?

People cheat their way into lower rated public lobbies with higher rated cars.

The lobby caps are 30,35,40,45,50,56,63,68, max but the caps aren't enforced in public as it is in showdown or turf. If you weren't exploiting, then your car will be go into the appropriate lobby.

Thanks. So basically if I want the serious racing experience, I need to get into turf or showdown, and use public for casual racing. That's good to know. Knowing the lobby brackets helps a ton too.

Are you sure about the higher rankings? I went into a lobby yesterday with my 1663 McLaren mp4-12c and was the lowest rating in the lobby. Everyone else was 1665/66.

It would be nice to have the same class to go with the lobby. Sure at 1630 , your racing everyone that is in that lobby but a c class against a R class, in multiplayer or turf, you can lose 95% time. I know this has to deal with a lot of math, but it should be done.
