Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.

However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.

On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.

In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

Glu Agrees to Acquire Cie Games
Will Expand Portfolio with the Current Top Grossing Racing Franchise on iOS and Android

San Francisco, Calif. - July 30, 2014 - Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: GLUU), a leading global developer and publisher of free-to-play games for smartphone and tablet devices, today announced that the company has agreed to acquire Cie Games - creators of Racing Rivals, the leading racing franchise on iOS and Android. Glu agreed to pay total consideration of approximately $100 million - approximately $30 million in cash and approximately $70 million in shares of the company's common stock valued based on the average closing price of Glu's common stock for the ten consecutive trading days through July 29, 2014. Glu expects the acquisition to close by the end of August 2014.

Racing Rivals launched on iOS in August 2013 and nearly one year after launch it is currently ranked as the #27 grossing title in the U.S. App Store. The franchise recently launched cross-platform gameplay on Android through Google Play and currently ranks as the #15 grossing title on Google Play in the U.S. market. Additionally, Racing Rivals maintains strong appeal in major global markets.

"I am very excited to bring the current #1 grossing racing franchise in both the Apple and Google U.S. storefronts to Glu's growing portfolio of IP," said Niccolo de Masi, Glu CEO. "In addition to more than 100 million installs lifetime, Cie Games will bring to Glu high quality studio talent and a profitable operating business. We anticipate the transaction being earnings accretive from its first quarter of consolidation."

De Masi continued, "Cie Games is a fully GaaS-driven studio with deep live-ops expertise and a rich content pipeline for Racing Rivals. Our expectation is that Racing Rivals is still early in the product lifecycle and with Glu's studio resources and global distribution power, it will continue to evolve as a true MMO in the evergreen racing genre."

"The Cie Games acquisition is a continuation of Glu's consolidation strategy commenced with the company's transaction last quarter to bring the Diner Dash franchise to Glu," said de Masi. "We believe our global publishing, monetization, live operations, and distribution capabilities mean we are able to drive greater cumulative lifetime revenues from games such as Diner Dash and Racing Rivals than could be generated standalone."

Cie Games is an award-winning independent developer and publisher of top mobile and social games Racing Rivals and Car Town. Cie Games has entertained millions of players by leveraging its expertise in the racing game genre. Cie Games has positioned itself as a leader in creating compelling and authentic titles for racing enthusiasts by forging partnerships with the biggest automotive and entertainment brands in the world.

"With over 100 million total installs and top grossing positions on the App Store, Google Play and Facebook storefronts, we've had tremendous success with our focus on automotive and racing titles," said Justin Choi, Chairman of Cie Games. "We are just getting started with Racing Rivals and believe there are great things to come for Car Town. We expect that working with Glu will allow the Cie Games team to take each of these franchises to the next level. Cie Games also brings with it our real-time multiplayer gaming technology and expertise. The companies are truly a great fit and we're really excited about their future together."

Glu anticipates that the next version of the popular Facebook game, Car Town, will launch on mobile in 2015.

I hope we don't have to start over. But maybe acquiring cie will pump more resources into the game and manpower to combat the problems. Keeping fingers crossed.
