Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.

However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.

On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.

In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

Crates: What Glu Got Right

I've posted before on the good & bad about buying crates (http://racingrivalsforum.ciegames.com/forum/the-neighborhood/talk-about-racing-rivals/3278676-the-problem-with-crates-an-addict-s-confession) and I've received many IM's in-game from people saying it has helped them or they have further questions. So here's an update, something on the positive side, I think we can all use considering the challenges with the 3.2 update. This is about what Glu got right with the crates, including the latest addition--the Nissan GT-R Nismo!

Today I went crawling back to the shipyard, looking to score a new Nismo edition GT-R. I wanted to get at the crates before the next round of turf cars were added. "Why?", you ask. Because one more prize in the bronze crate means I need to buy more crates to get the actual car I want--it's all about odds of winning. Anyway, after 41 bronze crates, I had the Nismo! (it's not for sale, don't ask)

The GT-R Nismo is the 5th blue print car inside the bronze crate so don't expect to buy 10 crates and win yourself a shiny new GT-R. The current blueprint cars you can get inside the bronze crates are: RWB Pandora One, Chevy Chevelle, Charger Hellcat, Challenger Hellcat, and GT-R Nismo. It was nice to see Glu added (perhaps on my request from an earlier post?) the Dart Rallye as a secondary car to go along with the VW GTI, Mustang GT, and Datsun 510.

So what did Glu get right? The bronze crate if you haven't figured it out by now. Only the bronze crates have exclusive cars that make excellent turf cars. The Hellcats (S class) make excellent 1663 cars, the Pandora One (R class) kills at 1668 and this new GT-R Nismo can be an excellent turf car for many events: Nissan, S class, Turbo, and all-wheel drive. I suspect my GT-R Nismo will be getting a lot of usage, probably at a 63 tune. The silver and gold crates have "exclusive" exotics that are very expensive to upgrade and rarely get a chance to come out to turf. I enjoy having one or two of those cars for fun, but don't spend your money buying silver and gold crates thinking you're going to have a killer turf car. The sweet spot, and your money, should definitely be investing in bronze!

If you're also interested in what 41 crates might win you, here's the total take. I did have a few blueprints left over from previous bronze crate splurges, so your results with blueprint cars may vary:

Blueprint cars:
1 Nissan GT-R Nismo (yay!)
1 Pandora
1 Chevelle
1 Challenger Hellcat
1 Charger Hellcat

Secondary cars:
1 Datsun 510
1 Mustang GT
5 Dodge Dart Rallye's
1 VW GTI

Other prizes:
140 boosts
2 Matte paints
1 Dodge Dart body kit
2 Evo 8 body kits
B-Sport matte black rims with red glow

If you like these posts, let me know and I'll keep the updates coming on the crate situation.
