Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.

However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.

On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.

In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

So who handles this?

Very true, @Roush Sport . But, for the purpose of Glu and their new "Global Chat" feature, the likelihood and occurrence of these instances have gone up exponentially. I know that closing the global feature will not 100% fix the issue, still leaving lobby chat and basic chat amongst friends; it will certainly cut down on it drastically though by limiting the audience.

@Roush Sport I've noticed you're always on the defensive for the game, try joining us for a little constructive criticism maybe it'll improve the game instead of always saying they're not liable. Unless you can honestly say this is acceptable and everything is forgiven once they simply change the picture.

I whole-heartedly agree - and am curious to see what Ryyst or Downshift will say, if anything.

Not defensive - just try to take a practical approach when looking at things. Seems everyone here - the moment something happens that they don't agree with, it's "grab the torch and pitchfork - time to burn Glu down!" Or, everyone comes off with the tone that Glu is somehow out to get over on them.

Also - I don't "always" say they aren't liable. That, and there is a drastic difference between constructive criticism, and suggesting that a company is knowingly providing a platform that allows illegal activities to transpire on said platform, and is doing nothing about it. I'm sorry, but I can't support that sentiment simply because I know that it's not true.

Lastly, I've taken on the position of a Mod on this forum. Of course I'm going to support / back Glu until there is a justifiable, verifiable reason NOT to support them. Rest assured, should that day ever come (that I don't agree with business practices or anything of the sort), I will resign from this position.

In short, it's friggin sad that no admin has come forward to even voice an opinion on this issue...guess it's OK to disseminate pornography to minors now...if you look closely ay the screenshots @j2 theizzo provided you can definitely see that the girl is topless...then I posted a screenshot of the SAME GIRL sayin she was 14 years old...where I come from it's illegal to share any nude photo of a person under the age of 18...CHILD PORNOGRAPHY is a crime, and those screenshots are verifiable evidence of such crime

Considering the post isn't even a day old, the "Admins" are on the west coast, and don't actively monitor the forum, it's no wonder we haven't seen a response yet. I'd say give them a day or two (depending on if / when they log in to this forum and decide if they want to chime in on this topic or not).

Maybe you're right there really wasnt any way for them to know these type of activities would take place but they do now. I think we should see some action being taken on their behalf to correct this is thats all im suggesting as i stand here with my pitchfork. When cloning came about and it hurt profits they sure didnt have a problem removing tournaments until they could correct it, im sure they can find a solution to this if they tried.

Agreed, but one thing you need to remember - how long did it take them to verify the cloning, and then take action?

Lol - no problem - just don't let the "mob mentality" blur your ability to think clearly.

Thinking clearly would just be a matter of opinion at this point just like considering a temporary ban sufficient punishment for promoting child pornography seems to be RR's.

Until an Admin chimes in and advises what is done about things like this, we have no way of knowing what actions they take. So, presuming the ONLY thing done about it is a temporary ban, and that Glu thinks that action is sufficient, would be a prime example of not thinking clearly.

If that's the case then why did you agree with KKDude11432 in what he claims is the action they take in matters like this, would that not be another example of not thinking clearly before responding? Bingo.

I've been a part of discussions about that very thing with Admins. There is a section of this site that only Mods and Admins have access to. In that section is a discussion that covers what happens when you file a report for an inappropriate name or avatar picture. But, this thread isn't a personal battle between you and I proving who has a clearer method of thinking, so let's give it a rest. Again, until one of the Admins chimes in, we don't know what actions they take when it comes to subject matters such as this. I do know that this is mentioned in the terms of service, but that only states that a player will be banned from the game. It doesn't state if any further action beyond that banning can / will occur.

So, here is the thing We can't monitor chat. So anything that comes from chat cannot be investigated.

IF someone has inappropriate avatars, go ahead and use the report function.

SHOULD someone actually send underage photos, its best to actually report them to authorities. We will absolutely help if called upon.

Other than that, not much we can do.

How about you assign ranks to people in the global chat who can timeout people. Say someone were to break a rule say it is, Influencing Breaking of Real Rules. That Moderator of the chat could timeout that user say the command be /timeout (user name) (length of timeout) (reason) whether It be a command or just a click on the person's avatar to timeout. Either way this would help bring discipline towards those who break the rules and bring harm to OUR community.

I'll gladly offer more of a Mission Statement if needed. PM Me.

Global Chat was a feature we integrated into the game in the hopes that it would bring our community together, at least in their ability to communicate. Chat used correctly is a great tool, unfortunately with great power comes great responsibility and maybe not everyone got that memo. Just the fact that you engage with chat as a community shows that you want/like the feature, your complaints show their are issues.

Currently we dont have the bandwidth to monitor several hundred thousand chat messages a day, and no in game mod would be able to keep up either, its also a very slow manual process that way.

We could develop a super solid chat/curse filter, but we all know people would f.i.n.d.w.a.y.s.a.r.o.u.n.d.i.t so ultimately that doesn't solve the problem.

We could ban users who misuse chat permanently, and in most cases the ones we find we do, but again, see my manual point.

We could remove image based player avatars, that would solve much of the issue there, but at the cost of everyone who doesn't engage in this behavior having a worse experience.

The same logic as above applies to just ripping out chat completely, if we do that we solve the problem (kinda, since these people will just private message/lobby chat the same smut) but at the cost of anyone who uses Global Chat for legitimate reasons. All this really does is reduce the amount YOU see, not the amount we see. So technically it wouldn't solve the core issue you are all rightly upset about.

Before I get into ways to "fix" this, I will say that we take these cases very seriously and everyone we get we deal with accordingly.

    So, lets talk about options.

    1. I'd like to create the ability to tap a users name/profile in global chat and from there mute them/report them. This creates a typing of modding on a personal level, you control who you do and dont see. This again makes chat look "nicer" just for the individual, but hopefully by reporting often you help us clean them all out.

    2. Remove Global Chat completely. I disagree with this. The issue isnt the ability to talk to anyone, the issue is not being able to control who talks back to you. Again the base idea of the future I see working very well. People looking for teams, talking about cars, trades, etc. That was the intended point of the system, just unfortunate that the underbelly comes with it, like most chat systems,

3.Remove functionality to stop the wicked. This would mean taking out photo based avatars as a an option, removing global chat, Enacting soft bans based off report amount (which means griefing comes into effect), As well as removing Lobby Chat (we wanna get rid of them right?). This is a hammer in a glass house solution and not something I would ever do, but i put it here to show you the true ask. This is the only way that "gets them out of the game" but it costs everyone else dearly.

I think the clear solution here is option 1. It allows you to self filter, and ideally with faster reporting action we can begin to trim more on our side, just remember its a big Ocean.

@[RR]Foxx why not let us turn global chat off?? That way those who want to use it can and those that don't want to use won't. Or have it constantly pinging the server and eating ram??

@[rr] Foxx no one's engages the global chat, or sould I say server chat cause there is nothing global about it. Still server locked just like the lobbies. It was forced upon the community and the community hates it. I have yet to see a compliment on the regional chat. O% of your customer base wants it. Why keep it?

You can turn off global chat notifications via options and never go into global chat. Thats basically "off"

I disagree, I'm sitting in Global right now watching people talk about recruiting, car builds, race challenges, and trades. Also I can see amount of users engaged in Global, much larger than you think. For as much hate that gets spewed there is also a decent amount of people that like it, it just needs to be better controlled. Also if you can ignore notifications via options and just not go into global chat, isnt that the same as turning it off for you as an individual?

I dont see much point to global chat. It is just a way to facilitate scammers. And Mr. Foxx just saying turn off notifications doesnt address the issue this post was created for.
