Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.
However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.
On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.
In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.
Hey all, just wanted to keep you all in the loop. We're close to submitting our 6.1.1 update. this update has some behinds the scenes stuff and some fixes including a fix for the launch button and a fix for chat issues.
I'll let you know when we submit! Approvals have been quicker, so should only be a few days after submission that we can go live.

Which, btw, is totally fine. I was just wondering. I'd rather wait, and know that everything has gone through hours and hours of testing and re-testing by multiple different groups, before it's released, so that everything is checked off and perfect and little mistakes don't slip through the cracks. Wouldn't that be nice
There's also a thread that details what this updated entails. It's in the "Patch Notes" section.

After having recently been "force updated," the lag has worsened and has left me in a dire situation where taking the time to race in showdown for gems and crates in preparation for turf has become cumbersome and frustrating, to say the least.
Just as @aubassplayer stated, the compatibility of the increase in enhancements and functionality seem to favor those that can afford to "keep up with the Jones," by continuously maintaining the status quo of technology. Unfortunately, those that do not have that same luxury, seem to be left behind. I've enjoyed the playability thus far, prior to the most recent updates, but the "push" has me rethinking whether the effort, patience, and consistent loss of cars is even worth the trouble.

With mobile devices - it's the same thing. A machine that ran windows 3.1 (and was top of the line at the time) couldn't dream of running Windows 10.
So, now the crux of my thought....at what point, as a developer, do you decide to stop supporting legacy devices, as doing so would stop your product from moving forward? Everyone raves about 5.3 - how it was smooth, simple, ran on all devices, etc. That's all well and good - but....how long would you expect 5.3 to stay around and not be updated? How long before it got stale, and players started walking away BECAUSE of the fact that it was old, outdated, etc?
It's a double edged sword.
