Is there a way I can get more stars without buying them

You get more stars by;

☆ Co-Starring with the same person until you max them out. They give stars.
☆ High ratings on big projects.
☆ Level up.
☆ Maxing out Achievements

Unfortunately nothing in life is free but you could also try;

Free stars in the Starshop. If any money is asked of, DO NOT do it! So be careful when selecting.
